Although the Life is Strange IP continues to involve with the latest entry in the series arriving earlier this month, the property is expanding beyond its initial video game format. Already, we witnessed the series break into the paperback medium in a partnership with Titan Comics to make the agreement a reality. However, there are also plans for a television series too.
Originally starting back in 2016 following the release of the original Life is Strange, Square Enix and Legendary collaborated to bring the production to fruition. But, Legendary later on sold the project to Hulu suggesting an exclusive release was planned then. Later on the rights for the game was then handed back to the initial party.
In a new report from Variety earlier this month, it is revealed that the Life is Strange TV series is still in the works and has recruited more for the production. In that, music artist Shawn Mendes and Anonymous Content is to now produce the show. Additionally, the writing goes on to press that Mendes will be responsible for the show’s music as well.
Anonymous Content is a co-studio alongside Legendary TV which stands as the main studio. Alongside that is Dj2 Entertainment which is also producing the show also. With that brings the firm’s Dmitri M. Johnson, Howard Bliss and Dan Jevons as executive producers atop of Anonymous Content’s Joy Gorman Wettels and Zack Hayden too.
Dj2 Entertainment was already involved with the box office success Sonic the Hedgehog which hit theaters last February and a second on the way this coming April. The studio is also occupied with a signed deal under Netflix to produce a coming anime series set within the Tomb Raider universe. You can read the full report by heading here.
