While Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio continues work on its developing crime drama at Sega, the series is currently in a pivotal transition. In that, the IP is rebranding from ‘Yakuza’ to ‘Like a Dragon’. It was confirmed in an IGN interview previously. So far, the first entry came in the form of Like a Dragon: Ishin – a modern remaster of the Japan-exclusive release.
Additionally, two more games is underway. One being Like a Dragon: Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name which is a prequel to 2020’s Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The next mainline installment, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, is also in the pipeline too. After confusion of the announcements, it was confirmed Like a Dragon 8 was renamed to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, RGG Studio clarified.
In a new video uploaded by the Japanese game studio, it is revealed owners of Like a Dragon: Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name will also includes a trial for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. You can watch the footage in the video below:
“As you may have been surprised to see, we’re including a special trial version of next year’s Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth as bonus content with purchase of Like a Dragon: Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name,” director Masayoshi Yokoyama explains. “As the name implies, special content like scenes not included in the main game will be unlocked after completing Like a Dragon: Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.”
More on what lies ahead for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, it appears to be the first entry to strand away from the native setting in Japan. In the reveal trailer, it is suggested that Hawaii is the next setting for the coming game.
