The ongoing hunt for the truth behind the expected release of Metroid Prime Trilogy for Nintendo Switch might be coming to an end. Previously, there has been a couple of listings which suggested the game is on the way, but we have yet to see that information come to fruition for a few years now.
One listing which emerged back in April 2019 told that the collection of Metroid Prime titles were on their way with the game uncovered on Best Buy’s website. That alongside The Legend of Zelda: A Like to the Past which released later that October, it was suspected the game was due for a 2019 launch but never occurred. Then a second more recent listing emerged online last month which shared that the game again is due for an announcement soon.
But as far as we know, there is no sign of Metroid on the way. Or that is what we thought until this most recent finding. According to Inet, a Swedish video game retailer, the storefront listed Metroid Prime Trilogy. But this time, the game is said to be shipping on June 19 next month. This new report also comes to reflect on Nintendo’s recent activity online this month.
Earlier in May, the company revealed that Paper Mario: The Origami King will be shipping for Nintendo Switch in July. However, the firm poked at another property at the end of the trailer as the paper protagonist sports Samus’ helmet mimicking to shoot at imaginary enemies. But what we initially interpreted to be a minimal gag in light of the new game could entail that a new project is on the way.
There has been whispers for majority of the Switch’s lifespan which suggested that Nintendo was already finished with introducing Metroid Prime Trilogy to the platform since late 2018. But the day never arrived, yet. But that looks to change if the listing does prove to be accurate in the coming weeks. As for now, take the listing as a rumor until properly announced by Nintendo.
