The Game Awards is set to go live on Thursday, December 12, 2024, and it is set to be a huge show with many announcements. 2K announced that it would have a presence at the show with a new Borderlands 4 trailer, and Mafia: The Old Country will also have a full world premiere.
In August, Hangar 13 shared the teaser trailer for Mafia: The Old Country, which is scheduled to release in 2025. Gearbox Software also announced on the same day that Borderlands 4 is real and is also planned to launch in the new year.
Randy Pitchford said he will be at The Game Awards, likely to present the first look into Borderlands 4. Pitchford confirms there will be gameplay in the trailer including a lot of in-game footage. He also says there will be a never-before-seen original cinematic sequence “that occurs about half way between the end of Borderlands 3 and the start of Borderlands 4”.
Multiple insiders have said that this year’s Game Awards show is going to be “very big”. Other rumors suggest Microsoft will be at the show, sharing the release date for South of Midnight.
