
Although Capcom is most notable for the beloved franchise Mega Man, the Japanese publisher has been fairly quiet on its plans for the IP. But while Mega Man 11 has came and went previously, the firm did press work is already underway for the next series installment. While he cannot disclose the premise of the new project, Senior Producer Kazuhiro Tsuchyia told the decision made will reflect as a mainline release.
Elsewhere, it was reported that a Mega Man film is in the works. Even more, Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Catfish, Paranormal Activity 3 & 4) is said to be helming the production. To boost spirits for concerned fans, Mattson Tomlin who worked with both Joost & Schulman on Project Power expresses the new project to be a “primal” telling of the property.
More recently, a new report surfaced revealing that a separate Mega Man film has entered production according to IGN. From tipped sources familiar with the new motion picture, this realization of the decades-old series is to be a live-action production. Netflix is also said to be responsible for the film as well.
Discovered by Rockman Corner, Netflix’s Supermarché slipped out information of the movie on its official website. “Henry, Rel, and their in-house producer Orlee-Rose Strauss maintain an active development slate. Features in the works include an adaptation of Capcom’s Mega Man for Chernin Entertainment and Netflix, which they wrote and are directing.”
In other recent news for Capcom & Netflix projects, details arose for the upcoming Devil May Cry series coming to the service. After its initial announcement in 2018, the new TV series is told to be featuring eight episodes for the first season and is to expand into a multi-season arc.
