Although Microsoft stands to be a console titan currently as the firm celebrates its 20th anniversary of Xbox, the company reflects on prior generations when it was still an underdog system through collaborations for the celebratory occasion. Last week, Microsoft & ten100 launched the documentary ‘Power On: The Story of Xbox’ – a six-part series telling the story of the birth for Master Chief and the hardware that moved the gaming industry.

Elsewhere previously, the Xbox company in partnership with Adidas to encapture each era of Xbox went out to launch a line of shoes that reflect, yet bring new awe to Xbox fans. At the start, the Original Xbox was celebrated with the inspired Adidas Forum Tech which hones the timing of the system’s release and what made the console unique. Later followed with The Xbox 360 Forum Mid that showcases the titular machine with designer kicks of its own.

On Tuesday, both companies emerge once more with the last pair of shoes to conclude on the lineage Xbox has left so far with Xbox Series X Forum Tech Boost sneakers.

With design inspired by the fastest, most powerful Xbox console ever, the Xbox Series X, the silhouette is a bold start in jet-black, amped further with pops of neon green and tech-driven details. As with any great design, it’s always about the details, so we started with the Forum Tech Boost, a shoe that draws heavily on the past while incorporating the latest in boost technology.

The design is a nod to the Xbox Series X, a platform to experience 20 years of Xbox while also pushing technology to deliver the ultimate gaming experience. Draped in black netting against a green liner, the inside of the shoe resembles the iconic green vents of the Xbox Series X. The sneaker also includes our modern Xbox sphere logo with subtle highlights, to represent our console power button and the elegant style of the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller.

To pay homage to our anniversary in a unique way, we drew additional design inspiration from the Xbox 20th Anniversary Wireless Controller Special Edition. Mirroring the grips on the controller, the shoe features a green heel and translucent sole, pulling directly from the shell of the controller. And as a final touch to celebrate this moment, there is a small Xbox 20th Anniversary logo tucked inside on the sock liner.

James Monosmith, Xbox Consumer Products Senior Sales & Marketing Manager

“Overall, we wanted to create a shoe that cemented a moment in time, but also felt timeless. This is a shoe that is meant to be played in, meant to be worn, and meant to be enjoyed by our community – one that’s always played in, and never played out.” The pair appears to be similar to the original ones reported by Complex back in May. The shoes on Adidas’ Store runs for $140 and is available now.

Recently, Microsoft announced another collaboration with a large apparel firm that surprised many: Swarovski. But instead of a line of wearable jewelry, the two are offering a limited run of diamond-forged Energy Swords & Master Chief helmets obtainable through orchestrated sweepstakes and donation fundraisers.
