Although players are not exactly certain as to what Starfield will be, fans are forming in excitement for whatever the game will eventually become. From the hands that worked on Fallout 4 & The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Starfield is to be the next unique property from Bethesda in quite some time. But, there are other concerns brought to attention most recently.
In the past, it was implicated that most Bethesda releases are to become Xbox exclusives following the firm’s acquisition by Microsoft. Before Starfield was even determined as to where it will land, claims emerged indicating it will be unique to Xbox. But more recently, GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb issued a similar claim with Niko Partners’ David Ahmad who appears to be corroborating with the recent statement.
But according to r/wooshthem on Reddit, the new rumor is the casting for Tom Cruise in Starfield. While an ambitious claim to make, the take is illustrated to be backed by three sources familiar with Starfield internally that reiterate on the tweet from Bethesda in 2018 asking the Hollywood actor to join its next project.
Bethesda games certainly are not foreign to the idea of celebrities being featured in their titles. Such as Patrick Stewart in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Liam Neeson in Fallout 3, and Wayne Newton in Fallout: New Vegas. However, the trend to consider is that many famous actors casted tend to remain secondary characters or are not commonly present throughout the game.
Although that is changing with other games in the industry with Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk 2077 and Cameron Monaghan in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, this could be a larger role than anticipated for Starfield this time around. But ultimately, it is left unsure. For the time being, keep your expectations leveled until Bethesda properly reveals more on the game.
As for what is uncovered through legalities filed by Bethesda, there is a likeliness an announcement for Starfield is to take place this year. In that, the trademark for the game was updated for 2021 which leaves an implication for a new unveiling to take place in the future. You can read the full report by heading here.
