Yes, talk for Starfield has yet to cease despite very little about the Bethesda-developed title being presented aside from a cinematic announcement trailer for the game nearly three years ago. However, users online are adamant 2021 is when a new reveal will take place. In that, the trademark for the property has been updated which leaves implication for an unveiling regarding to Starfield is to take place later this year.
But, the larger concern is not how the game will look, but where it will be played on. Noted, Bethesda is now an official subsidiary of Microsoft, so there is a connotation to its titles coming to Xbox systems. In tangent to that, Windows Central Jez Corden in the past told that the game is to be arriving to Xbox uniquely.
Although Microsoft did comment elsewhere that Bethesda games in regards to being classified exclusive to Xbox is on a “case-by-case basis”, there is still no concrete evidence to verify the claim just yet. But, GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb on Twitter recently stated the game is certain to be available only on Xbox platforms.
While Grubb is noted to be wrong in his own respect for inaccurate claims, there is more to his statement. In that, Niko Partners’ analyst David Ahmad appears to be corroborating with the claim as he reiterates on Microsoft’s plan to bring more software to its barren library. “With Game Pass now the center of the Xbox ecosystem, it is becoming more important for Microsoft to invest in exclusive content and IP that increases the value of the service and leads to new user acquisitions.”
In regards as to where the potential reveal for Starfield to take place at, Bethesda during its official purchase by Microsoft stated that a summer showcase is to be held later this year. As E3 is starting to take form for this June, it is anticipated that more details on the game are to be provided then. You can read the initial report by heading here.
