New Claims Point Towards Gears Of War Receiving Halo: The Master Chief Collection Anthology Coming Next Year

Upon many legacy support features at Xbox, before that officially arrived to the platform we’re accustomed to now there was only Halo: The Master Chief Collection. And for many that remembers the state of the release at the time, it was not pretty. But now with the version we have in 2022 across Xbox and now PC, it is an entry many enjoy; more than 10 million according to Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty.

From a new claim by XboxEra head Nick Baker during the XboxEra Podcast, he states that another anthology release is aimed for next year. While he cannot disclose what this project will center around, many viewers speculate the only IP that warrants the release for Xbox is Gears of War. And this comes after extended legacy support for all titles by Epic Games & The Coalition already.

“So I’ve been told- the rumor I heard what I’ve been told is that there is another Microsoft franchise – I’m not allowed to say the franchise – there is another Microsoft franchise that will be getting […] the Master Chief Collection treatment. Now, timelines I’m not sure: I dunno if this is going to be this year, next year whatever it is – probably most likely I would guess next year, but I don’t know timelines right now” Baker said.

“There will be another franchise- another Microsoft franchise getting that Master Chief Collection treatment: a collection of all the games […] all bundled into one.” While Gears of War is the candidate that many hop to consider for this new project, there is also the possibility that Fable could be that Microsoft franchise too especially with the reboot on the way from Playground Games.

Previously, Baker on the same podcast earlier on told that Microsoft is also in the talks with Epic Games to distribute more properties for crossover content on Fortnite.
