Over the course of the past year, Hitman 3 continues to impress those that get their hands on the game. From our time with the game, critic David Rodriguez gave his review for the game to be “both the best entry point in the series, while also being the climactic and exciting end of a great legacy for long time veteran players.”
Looking ahead for the series, IO Interactive is in a good position with the Hitman IP. From a previous financial report, the series is proving to be a massive success. Currently, the team is still underway with its new ambition involving the James Bond 007 license. Additionally, IO Interactive also confirmed to be working on a new IP – potentially the rumored project in collaboration with Microsoft previously reported.
On Thursday, IO Interactive held a Hitman 3 livestream featuring the next wave of content for the release with a roadmap slated for Year 2. You can watch the full video below:
To start things off, Hitman 3 is receiving extended virtual reality support for PC. While a PlayStation VR exclusive originally, the toolset is being expanded upon for more fine tuning on the new hardware. Steam is also expecting the game later this month as well. More notably is the visual improvements to the game which includes raytracing which is slated to arrive later on in 2022.
Furthermore, content for the game includes the new ‘Trials’ mode: players will find a list of targets that need to be removed consecutively. If you fail, the window will be closed for the next 24 hours. IO Interactive also teased Hitman Freelancer which pits the player to build their arsenal for larger jobs. There is also a homestead for players to make as their base and prepare to travel for larger opportunities.
