Back in late April, Polish developer Techland shared a teaser for a coming add-on for its 2015, free-running, zombie-killing experience, Dying Light. The DLC dubbed ‘Hellraid’ would transport the players outside of Harran through a dark magic-infused arcade cabinet to a hellish realm. It was apparent that the coming add-on would be the dismissed, same-named project from Techland.

It was shared that the project would be coming as a DLC for Dead Island back in 2012, but the project was later scrapped as the team pursued to make the expansion a full release title. However, following the game’s announcement in 2013, the game was shelved later on as Techland decided to focus development on Dying Light ahead of its reveal.

Now nearly seven years since the project’s announcement, it comes to life in Dying Light. You can watch the new trailer in the video below:

“Step into a portal to leave the familiar streets of Harran behind and emerge in an otherworldly stronghold overrun by servants of Hell,” the synopsis for the DLC reads on the game’s website. “Slay brand-new demonic enemies with medieval swords, axes, and hammers as you venture through stone corridors and dimly lit chambers.”

Additionally, Techland shares that this new add-on will also include new weapons, a unique ranking system, and additional rewards to unlock for the base game when completing certain bounties when playing in Hellraid. Alike with the conventional Bozak Horde DLC that shipped for the game previously, Hellraid will also support four player co-op to take on the largest battles in the new experience.

Elsewhere in Techland-related news; following a recent debacle of controversy surrounding the Polish studio, Techland PR rep Ola Sondej denounced the claims made on the team’s work culture and reaffirmed that development is still going smoothly for Dying Light 2.
