New Speculation Suggests Finding In Recent Minecraft Update Points Towards Proper Raytracing Support Is On the Way

When exploring what Minecraft can extend its reach to, Mojang Studios is already transparent on the next addition on the way to Minecraft. In the forms of ‘The Trails & Tales Update’ features many long-awaited additions. The update includes archeology, bamboo crafting, armor trimming, and cherry blossoms for the base game.

Additionally, there was hope raytracing was in the works for the game a few months back. In spring 2022, some users on the Minecraft preview for Xbox found raytracing elements in the build at the time. However, Minecraft’s Mojang Studios later removed the content and clarified that the update with said features were done on accident with no plans to release fully.

Well, now users online are confident that the supposed update is still planned to come at some point. From Twitter users @SmokeyStack_ & @xKingDarkYT, the pair pieced together their findings from the recent technical preview update for Minecraft revealing raytracing features once more in the files.

As time has told before, Mojang Studios at one point planned to roll out a proper update for realistic lighting in Minecraft. The Super Duper Graphics Pack was revealed roughly five years ago intended for Xbox One. But, by 2019 Mojang Studios announced that progress on the update would be halted indefinitely as it shelved the ambition entirely.

Elsewhere in recent Minecraft news, it was revealed from Warner Bros. that the upcoming Minecraft film starring Jason Mamoa (Aquaman, Dune) is to be aiming for a March 2025 release after years of waiting.
