Not too long after the release of Call of Duty: WW2 in 2017, studio co-founders Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield announced the following February that the two will be stepping down as heads of the developer as then-Senior Development Director Aaron Halon would take the position as studio boss.
In the report that revealed the two’s departures from Sledgehammer Games, it shared that the studio founders will pursue new projects under Activision. But that does not seem to be the case as Michael Condrey revealed to be head of a new studio over at 2K and now more recently with Glen Schofield who announced to lead a new studio under PUBG Corp.
Big new! I’m proud and honored to announce that I am now part of PUBG Corporation. Working together, we are building a AAA game studio called Striking Distance in San Ramon, CA.

Schofield will be taking the position of CEO at the new internal studio under the PUBG publisher based in San Ramon, forming Striking Distance.
In a separate tweet from the new studio head, Schofield did clarify that the upcoming AAA title from Striking Distance will not be a sequel to the battle royale title we are well too familiar with currently. Instead, he does reveal that the project will be based in the same universe of the initial title under PUBG Corp.
When hopping over to the careers page for the California-set developer, positions for the studio gives some insight for what the undetailed title will be as placings for Lead Designers in both single player and multiplayer fields are listed.
The only thing I can say now is that I’m not working on a sequel to PUBG, but an original narrative in the PUBG universe.

What do you think the new title could be as PUBG Corp. plans to expand on the original battle royale?
