Just at the transition between June and July this past week, two Twitter accounts were uncovered by fans online for both the Fable and Perfect Dark properties. In that, it was insinuated that these accounts were created in anticipation for this coming July’s Xbox 20/20 showcase where Microsoft would feature the two titles alongside the already-announced Halo Infinite and possibly Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.
During the initial reporting, Rectify Gaming supplied corroborating evidence to what looks to be enough in supporting the speculation for the two games’ underway for an announcement. However, it was not too long after the findings began to make waves around the industry that Xbox General Manager Aaron Greenberg denounced the hopes of players, stating to not “get your hopes up.”
But despite the statement coming from Microsoft themselves, fans were not convinced that to be the case. And while there were no additional information to keep the chances of seeing Fable or Perfect Dark the coming month afloat, it looked to be the end of that. But now, there might be some hope after all as a new discovery was made on the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
On June 26, Microsoft filed a new trademark for the Fable series and as of reporting is active since June 30. Dissecting the filing further reads what looks to be for the titular game series as its International Class reads 041 – Primary Class; translating to video games and entertainment software. “Providing information on-line relating to computer games and computer enhancements for games; entertainment services, namely, providing an on-line computer game; providing on-line electronic publications.”
With this new trademark, the anticipation for July’s Xbox 20/20 presentation will surely be gruesome as fans are ecstatic to learn what is underway from Xbox Game Studios teams. This week, it was reported that Microsoft’s showcase this month could land on July 23, sources told Video Game Chronicles.
Even more, the same aforementioned sources also disclosed to the outlet that The Initiative will be showcasing its first project at this coming event. Adding on, Video Game Chronicles also believes that the title being primed for reveal is Perfect Dark which aligns with previous reportings. You can read the full report by heading here.
What do you hope to come to fruition from the discovered trademark?
