When the Nintendo Switch 2 was revealed, one of its showcase games was revealed with ‘Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour. ‘ And while the idea of the game seems cool, there has been shock around the world that it will be a game players will need to purchase.
Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be a virtual exhibition of the new hardware that showcases it through demos, minigames, and other interactions. Players will get to know the console inside and out in ways they may have never known.
Today, IGN has confirmed via an interview that Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour will cost $9.99 when it releases on June 5, 2025. It was initially reported to cost around $6.00, but that obviously has gone up slightly.
This comes as a surprising decision due to the fact the Nintendo Wii launched with Wii Sports in the United States for Free. Also, PlayStation 5 released with Astro’s Playroom which was also considered a tech demo for the console.
The prices for some Nintendo Switch 2 games could shock us, like Mario Kart World which will cost $80. A direct presentation is planned to go live on April 17, 2025, for the new Mario Kart game, which is expected to be the biggest yet.
Do you think Welcome Tour should be a free game with the console?
