When will the Nintendo Switch 2 be announced?

As Furukawa said, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be announced within this fiscal year. That means it will be announced by the end of March 31, 2025. This does not guarantee Nintendo Switch’s successor will be announced in the second half of 2024 at all.

Shuntaro Furukawa also mentions they will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding the Nintendo Switch games lineup for the latter half of 2024. Immediately the President confirms there will not be a mention of the new console at this event.

What we know about the Nintendo Switch Successor

There have been rumors that the upcoming Switch 2 console will feature magnetic Joy-Cons instead of the rail system used by the current console. Other reports mention it could cost $400 when it releases as it will be more powerful than its predecessor and can run Zelda: Breath of The Wild in 4K 60 FPS.

The Nintendo Switch is getting closer to becoming the best-selling console of all time. The current record is held by the PlayStation 2, which has sold 160 million units. It remains to be seen if Nintendo will hold off on announcing its new console until it gets closer to that goal.

As of now, we are not aware of the release date for the Switch 2.
