More and more from Microsoft reveals its drive for gaming outside of just its living room console, Xbox. In one interview, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer did confirm that internal prototyping is taking place on a potential handheld. Additionally, the firm is also entertaining the different ports of entry to play Xbox titles. Part of the ‘This Is An Xbox’ campaign showcases devices like smartphones, TVs, and even Meta Quest as viable ways to play Xbox.
Elsewhere, Xbox Cloud Gaming continues to grow for Microsoft as well. In a previous interview this past February, Spencer did express that the cloud initiative is now facing double-digit retention with its users. And, that is just for those that use Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. However, there are plans for more beyond just the subscription. In that, cloud streaming your purchase library is soon to be realized as well.
This week, Microsoft announces that Ultimate users will now have more options to stream titles outside of the service on mobile, tablets, and PC starting today. The aforementioned list features roughly 50 different games that will be entering this new beta for Xbox Cloud Streaming. Plans for console & the Windows Xbox app is said to come in 2025

“Starting today, I’m excited to announce that we’re allowing Game Pass Ultimate members to stream select games they own through TVs and browser on supported devices like smartphones, PCs, and tablets, in all 28 countries where Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) is available. This is just the beginning. Next year, we’re excited to bring this feature to Xbox consoles and the Xbox app on Windows,” Xbox experiences and platforms engineering corporate vice president Ashley McKissick says.
“Our mission is to bring more games to more people around the world, across devices. We believe gaming should be easy to access and available for all players, no matter what device you choose to play with. That’s why we’re dedicated to making great games available across consoles, PCs, and with cloud gaming.”
