It was at the beginning of the month that Japanese developer PlatinumGames unloaded a boat load of new information regarding the team’s development and upcoming software from the game development team. Among the bevy of news that surfaced, PlatinumGames disclosed to pursue self-publishing with the announcement of The Wonderful 101: Remastered which swiftly accumulated over $1 million in less than a few days.
Atop of the 2013 title returning and simultaneously initiating the developer’s approach to being self-reliant, PlatinumGames also revealed a new self-publishing initiative to go along with their efforts – announcing Platinum4. Derived from the title, this new business endeavor will feature four self-published project coming from the Japanese game studio, including The Wonderful 101.
Now according to a report from ryokutya2089, PlatinumGames plans to reveal the next entry for the Platinum4 initiative next week. The Japanese-focused gaming outlet disclosed that PlatinumGames will properly announce the new game in the coming Weekly Famitsu issue next week, Thursday to be exact.
Regarding what the new project might be is left in the hands of speculation. Reverting back to the announcement of Apple Arcade in March 2019, it was discovered that PlatinumGames is one of the plethora of game developers that will be working on brining entertainment to Apple’s game streaming platform. But disclosing context on that supposed title has yet to dictate a solid foundation yet.
Upon further discussion concerning self-publishing and PlatinumGames, last week the firm’s head Atsushi Inaba tells of ambitions to do the same for Bayonetta. However, the publishing rights is split between both Nintendo and Sega which would be a hurdle to overcome. That including the funding for the game which would require a shinier penny than what was collected for The Wonderful 101.
