While the PlayStation 5 since its inception faced several issues in getting into players hands, that didn’t disrupt Sony Interactive Entertainment’s plan in delivering a second PlayStation virtual reality headset. Come February 22nd, the PlayStation VR 2 will launch offering a slew of games to its players. With titles like The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution, packaging for titles are being primed for retailers.
In a separate announcement, the PlayStation firm listed around three dozen titles for launch. However, not all games are to be available. In that, PlayStation VR 2 does not support backwards compatibility for titles of the original PlayStation virtual reality device. Instead developers will have to conjure respected versions for the new peripheral instead.
From an eagle-eye find by Gematsu via Twitter, it is discovered that the original launch lineup is off a few titles. Now it is said by PlayStation Germany that an additional five games are to be readied for release come the system’s launch.
Noted, all five games – GORN, Green Hell VR, Project Wingman, Solaris: Offworld Combat 2, and Wanderer Remastered – are all listed for the ‘launch window’ of the PlayStation VR 2. So while it is possible for the titles to ship at release, it is not entirely substantial that February 22nd will be the official date.
Amid the post on Twitter, First Contact Entertainment gave a statement of “no comment” on the matter to Gematsu. Originally it was unsure if Solaris: Offworld Combat 2 was a typo for a remaster or truly a sequel. But the game was then properly announced for PlayStation VR 2 without a date given for its arrival.
