Over a much slow burn, Sony Interactive Entertainment has been inching on more and more details regarding the PlayStation VR 2. From one blog post on the new peripheral, it was told that the device would feature room scanning, cinematic modes, and even new embedded cameras to scan your play area. This only fueled more excitement as the PlayStation firm later confirmed the release window for early 2023 next year.
As for content, President & CEO Jim Ryan told that roughly two dozen titles will be playable at launch for the new hardware. As for what specifically is confirmed, it was revealed that Firewall Ultra, Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Enhanced Edition, and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution are just some of the few featured titles supported.
In a new announcement on Wednesday, Sony Interactive Entertainment shares that PlayStation VR 2 is coming this February with a $549 price tag. You can view the specifications for the PlayStation VR 2 in the image below:
“During this initial launch phase for our next-gen headset, players in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg will initially be able to pre-order PlayStation VR2 solely through PlayStation’s online store at direct.playstation.com. Pre-orders will begin on November 15, and players may begin to register for pre-orders starting today.
“Orders from direct.playstation.com for PlayStation VR2 headsets and bundles will ship throughout the week of launch. In other markets, PlayStation VR2 will be sold at participating retailers, with pre-orders beginning on November 15. Information will be provided through participating local retailers in these regions,” writes Brand, Hardware and Peripherals Vice President Isabelle Tomatis.
What can be available for pre-order includes the following: PlayStation VR 2 – $549.99 / €599.99 / £529.99 / ¥74,980, PlayStation VR 2 Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle – $599.99 / €649.99 / £569.99 / ¥79,980, and PlayStation VR2 Sense controller charging station – $49.99 / €49.99 / £39.99 / ¥5,480.
