Just this past week, developer BioWare & publisher Electronic Arts shipped Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. For those unfamiliar, the game is a compilation of the first three titular installments reworked for the newest wave of consoles. Well, it’s aimed for 8th generation hardware, but is compatible for Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5 as well.
To grasp a larger understanding, visuals for the games have been greatly improved from the originals including more stable performance and better graphical settings being included as well. BioWare in anticipation for the title’s release uploaded a direct comparison of the originals to Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.
However, the full package is not included. In particular, Mass Effect 3 multiplayer is absent from the Legendary Edition. But, BioWare in an interview with CNET does suggest potentially featuring the matchmaking component sometime later on.
I would never say no to that — we want to see what kind of reception the Legendary Edition gets and what the demand for the multiplayer is. And then we’ll ask ourselves if we have the resources and time to bring it up to the quality level we and fans want.
Mac Walters, BioWare Project Director
Similarly, the same story has been spun for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered. While the campaign is playable on the newest consoles, the online version of the game is not included at all. While hopes is still up for the game to feature multiplayer, Infinity Ward confirmed more maps oriented from the game will hit Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) rather than introduce matchmaking for the remastered title.
As for the future regarding Mass Effect, it appears a television show could be underway. Through investigation from its player base, it is discovered that Henry Cavill could be hinting at a live-action show he is involved in. You can read the full report by heading here.
