From developer id Software, many of its beloved IPs such as Doom, Wolfenstein, and Quake are being adapted into modern shooters to meet current standards of action shooters, the developer is also responsible for redelivering the original releases to the same systems. Back in 2019 at QuakeCon, it was revealed that the original Doom trilogy will be translated for current systems including Nintendo Switch.
That same year, it was also discovered that Doom 64 – once excusive to the titular Nintendo 64 – will also be expecting a modern interpretation for all major systems. That fall, the two decade-old release was later released. However, that story does not specifically end there in terms of re-releases from id Software. On Thursday, it was discovered through a rating over on the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) that Quake is the next subject.
Now through a listing on the Microsoft Store, there is more proof on the game existing. You can read the overview provided below:
Enjoy the original, authentic version of Quake, now with up to 4K* and widescreen resolution support, enhanced models, dynamic and colored lighting, anti-aliasing, depth of field, the original, atmospheric soundtrack and theme song by Trent Reznor, and more. There’s never been a better time to play Quake.
You are Ranger, a warrior armed with a powerful arsenal of weapons. Fight corrupted knights, deformed ogres and an army of twisted creatures across four dark dimensions of infested military bases, ancient medieval castles, lava-filled dungeons and gothic cathedrals in search of the four magic runes. Only after you have collected the runes will you hold the power to defeat the ancient evil that threatens all of humanity.
Additionally, the listing also reveals that all expansions for the game is to be included in ‘Quake’; both The Scourge of Armagon and Dissolution of Eternity. It also welcomes a new add-on, Dimension of the Machine. “In the deepest depths of the labyrinth lies the core of lava and steel known only as The Machine. Crusade across time and space against the forces of evil to bring together the lost runes, power the dormant machine, and open the portal hiding the greatest threat to all known worlds—destroy it…before it destroys us all.”
At least unique to Microsoft’s hardware ecosystem, Quake will also support xCloud when it arrives alongside mods as well. For the latter of systems alongside Xbox, cross-platform play will be enabled so players can enjoy the experience altogether with no barriers in between. You can view both listings on Nintendo eShop & PlayStation Store too.
