Rating For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Appears In Europe

Speculation on what 2019’s Call of Duty title might be have already arisen at the start of the year with fans looking towards Infinity Ward possibly returning to the Modern Warfare franchise after finishing it off with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 back in 2011. And just now it was discovered that the remaster for Modern Warfare 2 have appeared on the PEGI ratings board.

Deprived from the description on the Pan European Game Information website, the remaster is of the game’s story campaign which caught many fans by surprise as they anticipate on returning to the lobbies of the 2009 title. What makes it even more interesting is that the campaign receiving the current generation rework is assumed to hold the controversial ‘No Russian’ mission from the game. Looking at this, it seems to be pretty red flaggish already seeing that the more contentious portion of the title will receive the remaster over the remaining 2/3rds of the game which are Multiplayer and Special Ops.

The title is also listed for PlayStation 4 as of right now; which many looked at this as part of the franchise’s marketing deal between Activision and Sony. Users online have conjectured that this could imply a timed exclusive for the platform, but until Activision or Sony Interactive Entertainment comments on this, do not take this as fact.

Back in 2016, Infinity Ward released a reworked version of Modern Warfare 2’s predecessor, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and bundled the game with that year’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. And later released the game separately in June of 2017. Assuming that Activision will make a pattern of this, we could fill in the gaps of when the title could possibly release.

Knowing that Infinity Ward recently listed positions focusing on story campaign-focused roles, this could be what the studio has been working on. But that does not exclude the unnamed title for this year having a story mode as well: as Activision’s annual earnings call revealed that this year’s Call of Duty will in fact have a story mode.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered currently does not have a set launch date, but is listed to drop on PlayStation 4 as of right now.
