Remedy Entertainment Forms New Publishing Partnership With Annapurna For Control 2, Greenlit TV/Film Projects For Alan Wake & Control IPs

When observing Remedy Entertainment games, its releases being simply cinematic is an understatement. From our review of Alan Wake II, we wrote: “From the incredible worldbuilding and interconnected narratives to the elevated survival horror and detective case solving, Alan Wake 2 is a unique experience that you don’t want to miss.”

And that is only one building block of this greater universe. Previously, the developer confirmed that releases from Control onward will be part of the intertwined ‘Remedy Connected Universe’. Of course, we’ve seen this established with the recent Night Springs add-on that came to Alan Wake II earlier this year.

In a new press release, Remedy Entertainment confirms that it formed a new partnership with Annapurna to co-publish the next Control title. Additionally, this also expands to a new arrangement to establish transmedia efforts for both Alan Wake & Control into film or television releases as well.

At Remedy, our primary focus continues to be what we do best—crafting industry-defining video games that have earned us global recognition. Now, the time is right to expand the reach of Remedy’s beloved franchises to an even broader global audience through film, television, and more. In Annapurna, we have found an outstanding partner who shares our ambition and passion for immersive storytelling. We are excited to see them bring the universes and characters we have created to life in new mediums, thanks to this unique deal.

Tero Virtala, Remedy Entertainment CEO

“I’m absolutely thrilled (yes!) by this opportunity to expand the story of Alan Wake and our whole Remedy Connected Universe to mediums beyond games, and to build all of this in close collaboration, games, film, TV, and other mediums as well, as one unified vision. I trust Annapurna are the perfect partner for us to make this dream come true,” creative director Sam Lake adds in a statement.

So far, Remedy Entertainment has already established plans for Alan Wake prior to this new deal. As part of an ongoing effort, the most recent update concerning Alan Wake transmedia is a TV series that got picked up by AMC. There has been no updates on this project since then nor does it elaborate how it will be affected now with Annapurna involved from this partnership. You can read the full report by heading here.
