The current state for Halo Infinite is a mixed bag for many. Majority of fans are truly happy with the outcome of the game and sits patiently as 343 Industries continues to churn out more content for the title in its post-launch state. Others understand the game to be unfinished as features that shipped in legacy entries are scheduled additions for later in the roadmap. Currently, some aspects are still not entirely working.
Earlier this month 343 Industries introduced the Cyber Showdown event for Halo Infinite and pressed on more title updates coming to the game. In that, patchwork to resolve issues for Big Team Battle was to arrive and did, however, it was not effective with another update forecasted for this week. But other eye-opening news reveals that Halo Infinite has succumbed more than 20 million players since the original launch window.
Atop of that, it was later reported by NPD Group that Halo Infinite is the #2 most sold game in December 2021 right behind Call of Duty: Vanguard. The game despite being available on Xbox Game Pass blew expectations away once more. But, new information regarding Halo Infinite emerges thanks to a new report from Windows Central.
The claim shares that Certain Infinity – a team that has assisted development on the Halo IP for more than a decade – is underway with a new game mode for the title. Codenamed ‘Project Tatanka’, it is said to be a potential PvPvE-like experience that is to attract fans of Fortnite, Call of Duty Warzone, and Apex Legends. More notable is that the awaiting Forge Mode is to also tie into this new addition as well.
In terms of expecting the unnamed mode, it is possible we could see this playset come sometime in season 3 next year potentially. With Season 2 projected for May this spring, there is a large window for the next content season to come in late holiday this year or even spilling into the following year.
Recently, Certain Infinity has also made headlines with an alleged project being worked internally for Microsoft. While details are still slim, the game is said to be a Monster Hunter-inspired experience with “long-term support” planned to be implemented for returning players.
