Yesterday before the official announcement of the Death Stranding release date, Antonio Fucito came out and leaked the November 8th release date via Tweet. Now, found by ResetEra user, Rodjer, the game looks to just be a timed exclusive for PlayStation 4 and that a PC launch could happen sometime in 2020. The same man, Antonio Fucito, has said this via stream:
The PS4 cover didn’t have the “Only on PS” label because DS it’s coming to PC at a later date, that’s the deal signed between Kojima and Sony, the game will be a timed PS4 exclusive and will be available on PC later on (won’t be available on Xbox), i don’t know if it’s a 6 or 12 months exclusive.
Seeing the credibility that follows Fucito, it doesn’t seem foreign to the idea that the Italian journalist turns out wrong after his initial statement does end up being legitimate. Though most flagship titles on the platform stay to be exclusive on the PlayStation Store, there have been some games that have slipped through to being ported on the PC.
Such as RGG Studio’s Yakuza Kiwami and the following sequel, Yakuza Kiwami 2. As well as the more recent announcement of thatgamecompany’s Journey which is revealed to drop on the Epic Games Store sometime next week, there seems to be a pattern forming with initial PlayStation exclusive titles making their way to PC at some point post-launch.
But for Kojima Productions cinematic adventure title to be a timed exclusive, it would have been expected to at least be advertised that the game is not entirely unique to the PlayStation platform. Unless Sony is holding off on the detail for a future State of Play or as a post-launch announcement. Nonetheless, this is just speculation ultimately until properly revealed by either the developer/publisher or Sony themselves.
Do you think Death Stranding will be coming to PC anytime in the future?
Death Stranding is currently listed for PlayStation 4 and set to launch on November 8th, 2019.
