Exploring the possibilities for what is next in line for Capcom’s Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil 4 Remake is the likeliest guess to make. With Resident Evil 8 already out for more than a year, the most popular entry in the series is certain to make a return with the same flair as Resident Evil 2 & Resident Evil 3 previously. Originally, the game was reported to arrive sometime later this year.
Additionally, new information surfaced from a FanByte report disclosing the direction this new release is to follow. From Imran Khan, he reported that the beta for the game is to play a larger role in conceptualizing the project rather than the full release. In particular, the pre-release version featured a darker experience that did not make it into the final version.
During the PlayStation State of Play, Capcom unveiled Resident Evil 4 Remake with the game scheduled to launch later this March. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:
“Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the 2005 game Resident Evil 4. When it first came out, Resident Evil 4 revolutionized the Resident Evil franchise with its new game-style that combined action, shooting, and resource management elements, subsequently setting the standard for future Resident Evil titles,” Capcom Promotion Producer Edvin Edso explains.
“This time, the game is being developed to achieve state-of-the-art quality for a survival horror suitable for 2023, while preserving the essence of the original game. We aim to make the game feel familiar to fans of the series, while also providing a fresh feeling to it. This is being done by reimagining the storyline of the game while keeping the essence of its direction, modernizing the graphics and updating the controls to a modern standard.”
