A Perfect Dark Remake has been in the works between Crystal Dynamics and The Initiative for the last couple years. A recent rumor suggests that the remake could be expected to come at least a year after the next Tomb Raider that Crystal Dynamics is working on.
This comes from a known Crystal Dynamics Insider, Miller Ross who shared via ResetEra that this could be the case.
“Tomb Raider has actually been in development for a lot longer than people know, though it did restart when they shifted from Foundation to UE5. It’s been in the cards for a while now.
Tomb Raider is full steam ahead, Perfect Dark I’ve heard has hit a roadbump or two. You’ll see the former before the latter.”
It seems that the development of Perfect Dark has ran into some obstacles and fans could be waiting longer than expected for this remake that is long awaited.
The Perfect Dark Remake was first announced at The Game Awards 2020 and we have yet to really hear about the game since then. The only other time that this remake has been discussed was in November when Crystal Dynamics said the development was “progressing well”.
The Initiative is one of Microsoft’s studios and this seems to be the story as of late for Xbox first-party having troubled development. Recently Microsoft had major layoffs which impacted 343 Industries and saw Joseph Staten leave the studio as well.
