Saints Row: The Third Remastered Officially Welcomes Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5 Versions Next Week

Although chatter has certainly been minimal in regards to new mainline releases for Volition’s Saints Row series, the developer has been working on bringing its prior entries to new hardware. With two of its games coming to Nintendo Switch, the next step is full-on remasters. That is what fans witnessed with the first leak for Saints Row: The Third Remastered back in March 2020.

It was not until publisher THQ Nordic and the developer announced the listing to be genuine. Even more, it was revealed that the remaster of the 2011 release is aimed for May 2020. Following, the reworking proved to exceed expectations of a simple remaster and shows to be in preparation for sometime more as new console hardware is just on the horizon.

And now with the hottest console machines out in the market, Volition announces Saints Row: The Third Remastered is coming to Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5.

This version will also be free to all current owners of the game, and will allow players to experience the game running at greater performance settings; equivalent to the PC edition at High settings.

Improvements made to the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 version include a framerate boost to 60 FPS and dynamic 4K resolution, whilst Xbox Series S players can choose between Performance (60 FPS) and beauty (30 FPS) modes.

Of course this version will also take advantage of the SSDs in the new consoles to serve much faster loading times. Plus, by popular request, we have added Saints Purple to the glow colour on the DualSense controller.

Looking ahead, it appears that Volition alongside port studios Spearasoft is working to push Saints Row: The Third Remastered even further on the newest consoles. However, to reiterate on what was previously said, it is suspected that this version is to further the opportunity for the technology behind the game when it comes to a new release.

In the past, THQ Nordic did comment that the developer is already working on the next entry of the series. “Volition is deep in development of a brand-new Saints Row game, the first full entry in this much loved series since Saints Row IV was released in 2013,” Lars Wingefors, THQ Nordic CEO stated at the time.
