While developer Yacht Club Games is directly noted for its well-received Shovel Knight series that includes the introductory ‘Shovel of Hope’ followed by connected expansions ‘Plague of Shadow’, ‘Specter of Torment’, and ‘King of Cards’, the firm is of course looking to further expand the IP in new directions. Which answers for the team’s announcement last year.
During that, Yacht Club Games announced Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon: in collaboration with developer Vine, the new project merges the classic Shovel Knight universe with a puzzle adventure twist. Originally confused to be a mobile-only title, the firm just recently unveiled that the game is coming to most major platforms including PC – not smart phones.
In a new trailer for the game, Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is said to hit PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch by the end of the calendar year. You can watch the release date trailer in the video below:
“In Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, you’ll join your mysterious guide Puzzle Knight as you shovel through scads of foes, procure new equipment, and battle bosses both familiar and new,” reads the overview from Yacht Club Games. “Explore a tale with endless twists and turns, quest as your favorite heroes, and even challenge a friend for fast-paced head-to-head competition!”
Regarding other Yacht Club Games releases, the firm Shovel Knight Dig is still undetermined for its release date. While announced well before the learning of Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, Yacht Club Games has yet to mark an effective release for the project yet. Previously it was slated for a 2021 release.
