For those that might recall from Sonic Central held back in June last year, Sega and Team Sonic went all out to feature its own digital presentation on all things Sonic the Hedgehog. One enticing reveal was the next flagship Sonic title. While unnamed at the time, it was not until December at The Game Awards that Sonic Frontiers would be the new game. Additionally, it was also rescheduled from 2021 to 2022 as well.
Elsewhere from the June showcase also included Sonic Origins. Alike other classic compilations, Sonic Origins would include Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic CD, all in one package. But despite the primitive expectations for the game then, Sega told the game would be scheduled for release sometime in 2022.
This past week, Sega announced Sonic Origins will officially release later this summer in June. With pre-orders now up, the publisher also visualized the different editions of the game with Standard Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, and varying DLCs like Start Dash Pack, Premium Fun Pack, and Classic Music Pack. The description for the games continues, “Developed by SEGA, Sonic Origins delivers the legendary, non-stop Sonic action found in the original games, while providing a fresh twist with remastered visuals, added features, new content and modes and more.”
