Following the most recent PlayStation 5 showcase that took place this week, the industry should already be well-aware that the next-generation console – and its disc drive-free companion – are both arriving later this November. Sony Interactive Entertainment broke the news closing the show revealing that both the base PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition are set to arrive in select regions on November 12 and globally on November 19.

While not properly disclosed during the hosted virtual show, Sony did under the radar launch pre-orders for the new system on select retailers. Among that, the firm in certain listings provide the carton for the new console to give potential consumers an idea of what to expect from both units. Previously, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and the latter Xbox Series S were also shared earlier this month.

Hovering over Amazon, the firm reveals the packaging for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition which are both presented to be night & day, figuratively. You can view the images boxes in the photos below:

Gathered from the images, it is evident that the base system is offered in a white packaging while the digital-focused iteration will ship in a black box. On the front of the box, the system itself is propped to tower over the compatible DualSense controller. While on the left side of the carton you can find the full image of the system hovering over the gamepad.

As for the smaller details of the packaging, the symbols stamped includes emphasis on 8K resolution alongside ‘4K 120’ frames per second to be compatible with the consoles. HDR support is also emphasized to mark the generational leap for the PlayStation 5. But on the Digital Edition’s box, Sony highlights the absence of the optical disc drive as physical media will not be supported.

What are you most grasped by the packaging for both PlayStation 5s?

PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition are set to launch on November 12, 2020 and November 19, 2020.
