Given the amount of noise that circled around Gears of War as a whole, you can see many players gawking at the recently-delivered DLC for Gears 5 – Hivebusters. The story add-on for the 2019-released title elaborates on Scorpio Squad, the trio of characters played in Gears 5’s Escape Mode. Alike the base game, the expansion spins on the game’s great visuals right after the drop of the Xbox Series X & Xbox Series S consoles.

To elaborate more on the new systems in relevance to Gears 5, a reworked version shipped day one including David Bautista as a replacement for Marcus Fenix and the long-awaited new game+ mode. But this week, The Coalition did spark player’s hope for the series after a subliminal image was posted on Twitter. Gathered from the close up shot, followers easily gathered the tease to be reference to Gears of War 2.

Moreover, many presumed the implication stood to be a nod to a remaster for the 2008 title. Gears of War already received one, so it is suspected the same treatment will be accompanied to the sequel. But, The Coalition in a later tweet clarified that not to be the case with another post announcing Operation 6 for Gears 5.

Gathered from the blog post elaborating on the next season for Gears 5, The Coalition issues that Operations moving forward will be shortened. Players accustomed to the traditional 16 week Operation duration will now be welcomed to a briefer 11 weeks when Operation 6 commences. Even more, the team also reveals three new characters (Colonel Victor Hoffman, Queen Reyna, Locust Zealot) alongside a new map, Speyer.

But, there is still plenty that has yet to be spilt on operation 6 says The Coalition. “We have a number of posts that’ll be releasing during the week covering the other aspects of Operation 6, make sure to keep your eye out for those,” The Coalition pens in the post.

Were you hoping Gears of War 2 remastered was real?

Gears 5 is out now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
