The Game Awards 2020: New Gameplay Trailer Reveals Housemarque’s Returnal Launches In March 2021

Upon the run up to this Thursdays Game Awards, many fans continued to speculate Sony would drop a bomb (figuratively) in regards to the PlayStation 5. While hopes were high, there happened to be no definite evidence to suggest such an act. That was until the eleventh hour that Sony Interactive Entertainment encouraged its fans to tune into the show later in the week.

As for what could come to fruition from the post to be at The Game Awards – it could be a handful of things. But realistically, it would revolve around the titles arriving within the first half of 2021. So, entries such as Gran Turismo 7, Returnal, and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart are likely candidates for the announcement then.

Now that the annual show arrived on Thursday, Sony Interactive Entertainment when accompanied by developer Housemarque unveils a new trailer for Returnal. More importantly, the footage ends revealing the game is arriving in March 2021. You can watch the gameplay trailer in the video below:

“In Returnal you get to dive deep into the mind of Selene, an Astra space scout trapped in a hellish loop of endless resurrection while trapped on a hostile planet,” Mikael Haveri, Housemarque Marketing Director writes for the game’s synopsis. “The roguelike formula mixed with exploration platformer elements allow for a unique way to explore the planet and continue the battle she is fighting.

“Of course, there will be plenty of Housemarque arcade flourishes present, so prepare to be bombarded by volleys of bullet-hell projectiles along the way.” It was just last month during the arrival of the PlayStation 5 that, Sony Interactive Entertainment uploaded a launch trailer for the next-generation console. In that video, the firm tells Returnal would arrive in the first portion of 2021. You can read the full report by heading here.
