Every year, video games and the industry that surrounds it delivers experiences that continue to redefine the medium. And to reflect on all things that came from this market, Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards commemorates as well as awards the most outstanding titles for the calendar year. And 2024 will certainly be no different.
Reflecting on 2023, last year was certainly monumental to say the least. Game of the Year went to Larian Studios’ Bauldur’s Gate 3 against nominees Alan Wake 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Resident Evil 4, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Additionally, viewership faced a new milestone for The Game Awards with 2023 being the most-watched event to date.
Now following Keighley’s-hosted Gamescom Opening Night Live, he announces that The Game Awards 2024 is set to arrive later this December 12th. “The Game Awards 10th Anniversary broadcast will take place live on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from Peacock Theater in Los Angeles,” the news post on the official website reads.
Of course, there will be awards to be handed out as is tradition for the namesake of the show. But, there will also be announcements as well as world reveals. One effort that viewers are hoping to see for this year’s event is more focus on the awards with more stage time for recipients and the advertisements/reveals come second.
One anticipated reveal to take place is more information on Mafia: The Old Country. While it is not confirmed, the title was revealed at the recent Keighley showcase in Cologne. The trailer did indicate more information will be revealed this December 0n the 2025 title – suggesting Keighley also established for proper footage to be shared then.
