In the realm of PlayStation Pictures and affiliated productions, the current excitement grows for the wrapping up Uncharted film starring Tom Holland & Mark Wahlberg. Additionally, there is also the forthcoming The Last of Us television series over at HBO that is currently being filmed as well. However, Twisted Metal is also told to be in the works as well during the initial founding of the division.

Back in 2019, PlayStation Pictures did push that a live-action television series was on the menu, but, it appeared that productions like the one from Naughty Dog took priority at the time. It was not until last year where official word broke on both Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland) will be producing for the TV show.

In a new report from Deadline, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier actor Anthony Mackie is told to be starring in the coming Twisted Metal series as he gets casted for John Doe. Further casting for the production has yet to be revealed. “We’ve been big fans of Anthony’s phenomenal body of work over the years and knew he was the only actor who could play a character as complex, funny and compelling as John Doe.

“Fortunately for us, he agreed,” Glenn Adilman, Sony TV Executive Vice President of Comedy Development told. Additionally, the repost includes that Cobra Kai writer Jonathan Smith is to write and be an executive producer for the TV series as well. Of course, PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst alongside PlayStation Pictures’ Qizilbash and Carter Swan are to executive produce the show as well.

Most recently, word broke out on new details for the upcoming series. From GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb, he explains that the TV series is planned to bridge to a new game that is one the way. You can read the full report by heading here.
