While the initial announcement took place back more than a year ago, the biggest change for Rainbow Six Quarantine happened to be the name change. Presumably, it was suspected that the situation the globe is experience with COVID-19 would not be a tasteful choice on Ubisoft part and resulted with the game being renamed ‘Rainbow Six Extraction’ later on.

As many are familiar of the recent Ubisoft Forward, the unthinkable occurred: Rainbow Six Extraction finally has a release date. While the game was not revealed too long ago, the wait for what could be a basic standalone experience of the game it is derived from took way longer to arrive. But, at least there is a release window aimed for this September, right?

Well, there was one for this fall. Now, Ubisoft in a new statement elaborates on its over ambitious decision with a new release window aimed for sometime in January 2022, the team explains.

Our ambition with Rainbow Six Extraction is to deliver a full-fledged AAA experience that changes the way you play and think about cooperative games. With unique features like Missing In Action or The Sprawl, every mission is set to be a tense and challenging experience in which you’ll lead the elite operators of Rainbow Six in a fight against a lethal and evolving alien threat.

We are embracing the opportunity to take additional time to bring this vision to life in the way it deserves in January 2022. We are confident this will ensure Rainbow Six Extraction is the immersive, cooperative, and thrilling experience we set out to create, and the one you aspire to play.

However, there is not all bad news regarding the Rainbow Six series. In fact, there is some fairly good press regarding the 2015 release. In that, cross-platform play has been enabled for the game. More precisely, it is supported for PC, Stadia, and Luna users can play amongst one another in abridged lobbies. Ubisoft shares consoles are to expect the update next year at the earliest.

Elsewhere regarding the Tom Clancy universe, Ubisoft is planning to make a large announcement for the series with a new game on Monday, July 19. While not explaining the context of the new experience, it is shared to be a first-person shooter provided by gameplay posted from IGN on Sunday. You can read the full report by heading here.
