Undead Labs Reveals New State Of Decay 2: Homecoming Update Arriving In September

While developer Undead Labs previously announced State of Decay 3 more than a year ago at the Xbox Games Showcase back in July 2020, the team is still working on the project as we speak. However, the team despite the project’s progress is planning to deliver more add-ons to 2018’s State of Decay 2 in the meantime. Previously we witnessed ‘Heartland’ back in 2019 and now Trumball Valley is the new setting for the next update arriving next month.

In a new announcement from Tuesday’s Xbox Gamescom Livestream, State of Decay 2: Homecoming is the new major update for the game. “In this new version of the iconic map, players will learn about the latest developments in this area, discovering new characters and storylines and resolving long-running plot threads.”

You can watch the new reveal trailer in the video below:

“Players can also look forward to six new bases, as well as unique weapons and outfits that can only be found in Trumbull Valley. New missions and new achievements await those who choose to settle on this new map,” Xbox Wire Editor-in-Chief Will Tuttle pens. In addition to the new announcement, Tuttle also presses that State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition has overcome more than 10 million players since its release.

Looking ahead from developer Undead Labs, the team is quietly working on State of Decay 3 as we already know. But, it appears the team is to utilize new proprietary software to do so. In that, a previous job listing shared that Undead Labs is looking for potential candidates to come with adopted knowledge of Unreal Engine 5: indicating the team’s shift to the suite.
