When entertaining the idea of Xbox titles coming to more platforms, it was discarded as a simple decision with many presuming the whole catalog is coming. But in total, only four games made that list: Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded. And while it is a select few, these are some of Xbox’s current defining entries over the past half decade.

One of the most notable is Rare’s Sea of Thieves. It arrived in April and happened to be the most-anticipated for PlayStation users. At the time, it was record in being the most pre-ordered release for PlayStation 5. Additionally, it was also touted for bringing enhancements to PlayStation 5 including DualSense support as well as 120hz for compatible displays.

Even more, the game’s addition to PlayStation also brought a new milestone to Sea of Thieves – celebrating 40 million users. Now reflecting on the sales performance for Sea of Thieves, it is revealed that the game was the best-performing entry in Europe for its late April release that month.

“April’s PS5 list saw a healthy addition of newcomers with Stellar Blade and Sea of Thieves entering the top 5 of most downloads in the US and EU regions,” the PlayStation Blog post shares. In the US & Canada, Sea of Thieves is placed #3 behind Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2. But, in Europe it is #1 ahead of Grand Theft Auto V as well as Helldivers 2 in 2nd & 3rd respectively.

If considering Microsoft as a whole, there is a bigger surface area the Xbox firm holds overall. On PlayStation 4, Fallout 4 is #1 in both regions. What’s more, other games including Minecraft, Fallout 76, Grounded, and Call of Duty remain on the top 10 list for April 2024. It further questions what Microsoft is planning further ahead for its support on other platforms.

In February, Xbox head Phil Spencer told that both Starfield & Indiana Jone and the Great Circle are out of the equation entirely. In fact, he stated that there are no plans beyond the four pre-selected titles already out across PlayStation & Nintendo. You can read the full report by heading here.
