One of the biggest improvements of the PlayStation 5 over its predecessor is the amount of support that rolled out features for its users. While plenty of aspects were absent at launch, it did not take long for the firm to address the demands. However, there has been a number of features that were retracted as well on PlayStation 5 too.

Earlier in 2022, Sony Interactive Entertainment surprised its users revealing that its Accolades system. When playing online, you could submit how player experience was with the respected user. Another feature which appears to be gone for now is ads on the home menu. Earlier this month, it was reported that advertisements for select games were displayed on the home page. But, PlayStation nodded it off as a bug.

Now according to PlayStation Lifestyle, one beloved feature appears to be going away for good. One element that illustrated the advantages of newer PlayStation 5 hardware was its ‘Activity Resume’ feature. Simply, you could put one game & one app on sleep mode essentially and return to where you were without needing to visit the main menu.

But, that appears to be absent as of late. According to the outlet, Update 24.07-10.20.00 rolled out this week which was regarded as a small patchwork for the Activities function. It was when users online began questioning if Activity Resume was fixed from this new client, it was uncovered the feature was removed altogether. PlayStation Lifestyle believes this decision was due to the lack of support by many games. 

This comes as a surprise as Xbox continues to brandish this feature via its homebrew ‘Quick Resume’ mechanic. The feature enables users to have up to five games on their console sit in this retainer enabling those to jump back to where they left off.
