Virtuos Employee Verifies Work On Unannounced Remake, Insider Reiterates To Be For Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

While Konami has been fairly quiet with its plans for its pre-existing IPs like Castlevania & Silent Hill, the publisher has worked to deliver a new game to the series. Over on Apple Arcade, iOS users witnessed the addition of platform exclusive Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls hit the monthly subscription video game service. Additionally, Konami plans to work more on the franchise elsewhere.

In a report from Video Game Chronicles, Konami’s internal Japan team is currently underway with a incubator project regarding Castlevania. According to sources that spoke with the outlet, it is to be a “reimagining” of the series. At the same time, Video Game Chronicles also went on to indicate a new remake for Metal Gear Solid is underway. Namely, it is for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater by Virtuos.

From Twitter user @FaizShaikh7681, Virtuos Studios’ former lead programmer Zhiyang Li on LinkedIn confirms that the developer is working on a new, unannounced project framed as a remake for an AAA project.

Also noted from the bullet points from Li’s time when working at Virtuos is the supposed project also supporting 4K resolution as well. “Upgrade the engine to support 4K on certain platforms,” Li wrote in the list of responsibilities.” Elsewhere on Twitter, industry analyzer Roberto Serrano in the thread explained that the project is likely a larger project as Virtuos is a co-studio.

Although Serrano could not identify which team Virtuos is working alongside, he does confirm that the unnamed project at focus is to be Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Altogether, more ground starts to form from under the alleged Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake now as new information arise alongside further suggestions from users familiar with the productions.
