“Overall, I can’t recommend Hogwarts Legacy enough to players looking for a great adventure game with an excellent combat system. Even if you aren’t a fan of Harry Potter in general, but like magical high adventure stories and RPGs, you will definitely find something to like about this game,” our review for Hogwarts Legacy read upon release. And that sentiment stuck for many players well through 2023. This was evident learning sales exceeded 24 million units then.

So, of course, a sequel is likely to follow. In report from insider @MyTimeToShineH on X, Avalanche Software has already begun work on the next installment. The only upset from Hogwarts Legacy is the lacking support of post-launch DLC. Although there was a major update that came this year, the promise for story add-ons or even a Quidditch expansion was not on the table, the studio confirmed.

Now as part of the recent Bank of America conference, Warner Bros. Discovery did express that the future for Hogwarts Legacy is a “priority”. Speaking during the event, Variety transcribed a statement from CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels. “Obviously, a successor to ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ is one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road. So there is certainly a significant growth contribution from that [games] business in our strategic outlook here.”

For obvious reasons this is what many expected to hear from the firm after how Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment performed in 2023. Even prior to the game’s release, it shattered records from Deluxe Edition owners. On Twitch, it was crowned the most-viewed single player title then. It also turned heads learning it exceeded total players for Fallout 4 on Steam with over 480,000 users also.

Around the same time, Wiedenfels also elaborated on gaming as the venture continues to mature for Warner Bros. Discovery. During the same conference, he expressed that gaming is a “strategic asset” for the firm. You can read the full report by heading here.
