Speculation is one thing that we use on a daily basis to determine if a game is truly coming or preparing be revealed through countless different instances: for this article though, it would be the recent discovery of the Watch Dogs UK Twitter account that fans stumbled upon just last month in May.
The reason for the use of speculation to kickoff this piece is mainly because it does come to be a successful tool when looking at the facts and being a little patient. This being that the initially speculated and probable UK-set Watch Dogs 3 has been leaked via Amazon UK which supports the game’s location and gives some gameplay-focused details also.
Discovered by technology outlet TheNerdMag, the listing for the title reveals that the soon to be revealed third installment in the franchise will not be directly labeled as the third in the series, but instead has been dubbed with the title ‘Watch Dogs Legion’. Here’s the full description of the game from the now deleted listing:
Watch_Dogs Legion is set in a near-future, dystopian version of London. It’s a post-Brexit world in which society, politics and technology have changed and altered London’s fortunes. London is one of the most iconic cities in the world and has had a massive influence on all of Western Culture for centuries… London makes total sense for WD, as the city has one of the highest surveillce [sic] levels in the world making this the perfect playground.
The setting to be based in London can be traced back nearly two years back following the story update in Watch Dogs 2 which along with fixing the game’s story resolution also displayed coordinates that point’s towards the nation’s capital as well.
The most interesting take from the listing is the bit of gameplay information that was shared which details that every NPC in the game can be controlled by the player, assuming this is activated by recruiting said NPCs under Dedsec. “Play as anyone, Every individual you meet in the open world, has a full set of animations, voice over, character traits and visuals that are generated & guided by gameplay systems.”
The leak continues on as reported by VG24/7 which confirmed from their sources that the game will offer this new feature. Stating that the each character will have some sort of history in the game’s world and even detailed that Far Cry 2’s Director Clint Hocking is running the upcoming project.
All in all, there is a lot to take in from everything that is currently breaking, and is best to still view all this as just a leak until E3. Ubisoft’s press conference will be taking place on June 10th at 1 PM PST / 4 PM EST.
