For any of those who are active online with the gaming industry, it should be no news that Microsoft has officially delayed the highly-anticipated Halo Infinite into 2021. The firm shared that part of that happens to be due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that is still holding the globe in a vice grip which swayed the decision to further work on the originally planned Xbox Series X title.

And while we now wait for more to be unveiled by Microsoft in the coming months as the Xbox Series X is set to launch sometime in November, some details behind the delay were spared recently. When speaking on a recent Animal Talking with Gary Whitta, Xbox head Phil Spencer took the couch to discuss some of what happened when things were going down which lead to the decision to delay Halo Infinite.

Upon peeling away the finer details of the game’s launch postponement, Spencer told him among other Xbox Game Studios executives did ponder to possible alternatives. Those include possibly shipping the game in separate portions overtime.

We made the decision late last week. And I say we – Bonnie Rose who runs 343, Matt Booty who runs our first-party studios organization, and myself. And they came with some options – the things we could do – maybe parts of the game that we could ship on given days or given dates and it just didn’t feel to all of us like the Halo release that we would want.

While we were handed the ultimate decision to simply hold off on Halo Infinite until next year, it does raise some questions as for how it would operate releasing segments of the game at different times. It is expected that the multiplayer would arrive first sensing that the firm was anticipating to ship online as for free. But that would be followed by later with the campaign as it is presumed that would be the more visual experience as we are all aware of the criticism of from last month’s gameplay demo – which is suspected to be the reason for the delay.

What was also collected from the interview is that at one point, Whitta disclosed the game was pushed to Q1 of 2021 where Spencer did not object to his statement. “Launching the Halo game alongside the Series X could be considered a central pillar of your launch strategy, what now – Halo will push to sometime in Q1,” Whitta asks Spencer. It is presumed that Whitta obtained the knowledge from the pre-interview talk with Spencer earlier on and slipped the small detail for the game. Currently, 343 Industries shared only a 2021 release for Halo Infinite.

Elsewhere this week, Monster Energy despite the recent delay of Halo Infinite is still resuming its advertising campaign for the game. In that, the firm possibly disclosed the pricing for the Xbox Series X in its promotion’s website which was determined to range around $549.99. You can read the full report by heading here.

What are your thoughts on the pitch to ship Halo Infinite in different segments?

Halo Infinite is arriving sometime in 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
