At the end of March, it was upsetting to learn that this year’s annual QuakeCon would not be taking place. What made the announcement more devastating is that it would be shelved on the same year as the 25th anniversary for the show’s commencement alongside the absence of Tim Willits from this year’s show as well.
Even more, Bethesda at the time of the announcement failed to share if there would be any sort of virtual alternative to take place of the husk for the in-person event – stating that be hopeful of working on something this coming August, but did not further the statement with any definite plans since then.
Luckily it turned out for the best as the organizer announced that QuakeCon at Home will be taking place now this coming August.
In that, the firm shares the event will be taking place on the second week of August, but does not introduce what will be present at the show. Bethesda does elaborate that more details on the new QuakeCon will be elaborated upon more “in the coming weeks.”
Hopefully we will get more details on the coming GhostWire: Tokyo alongside anticipated Deathloop that were both showcase during the recent PlayStation 5 showcase event earlier this month. Maybe we will see new IPs or other projects that have yet to be followed up on since their announcement previously.
What makes this announcement more reassuring follows the disbandment of 2020’s Bethesda E3 Showcase since the firm would not be hosting a virtual show. This year’s presentation for the publisher would also the 5th annual event for Bethesda if deciding to continue with an digital experience.
