Apex Legends Welcome New Overflow Arenas Map And More In Upcoming Thrill Seekers Event

At the start of Season 9 for Apex Legends, players felt a new surge of energy hit the game with the newly introduced Arenas mode. With that, a new round-based experienced arrived as players balanced currency per interval and learned their opponent’s strategies to overcome each game. But, the series could be expanding more with the new mode later on.

Currently, the major changes applied to the game so far is the early-leave penalties. But, Respawn Entertainment has shared that the team is experimenting with new ways to experience Arenas. Previously, it was told that despite the falling flat of a bomb defuse mode, the team is looking to expand further for the experience in other directions now.

According to a new announcement on Wednesday, Respawn Entertainment is welcoming the new Thrill Seekers Event to Apex Legends that welcomes a new Arenas map, Overflow. The event is going live from July 13 to August 3.You can watch the full trailer in the video below:

“The floor is lava! Well, some of it, anyway,” the team explains. “Overflow differs from other Arena maps by being lane focused; where each location is separated by tall, lava-filled structures. With this separation, players cannot easily spot early decisions made by the other team and will need to stay vigilant before committing to a side or risk being flanked. While there are opportunities for long-range engagements, combat tends to favor short-to-medium ranges along either POI: Overlook or Slope.

“Overlook is a long, open area with a central interior that gives a height advantage over this POI. While this area is perfect for snipers or DMRs, players may want to hold the interior to control not only this area but their flank as well. Slope, as the name implies, offers both a high ground and a unique area where players can slide down to a remote part of the map. This area can be used for sneaky flanks or defensive setups where players may not expect it.

“Overflow feels pretty different from our other maps, and our hope is that it will feel rewarding for both defensive and aggressive players alike.” Already, Respawn Entertainment resurrected Skull Town for a limited time in Arenas with the ongoing New Genesis Collection Event alongside classic King’s Canyon and World’s Edge in battle royale.

Elsewhere, Respawn Entertainment lead Vince Zampella continues to further establish his separate venture at Electronic Arts, DICE LA. In that, the California division for the Swedish developer has renamed itself to Ripple Effect as it confirms to commence development on its new IP recently.
