Capcom veteran Hideki Itsuno remains a staple within the Japanese publisher with his efforts at the firm for more than two decades. Since working on Street Fighter Alpha, he has went on to manage and direct other IPs including Devil May Cry alongside Dragon’s Dogma. While Devil May Cry V shipped in 2019, the Dragon’s Dogma series remains dormant as of late.
The same year that Devil May Cry V shipped, Dragon’s Dogma did welcome a native port to Nintendo Switch to relive the experience on a new console. However, that is not all for the franchise. In a separate announcement in 2020, Netflix revealed an animated Netflix series was on the way and released later that fall.
Fast-forwarding to June this year, Itsuno hosted ‘10 Years of Dragon’s Dogma’ pressing on his career at Capcom and the inspiration leading to Dragon’s Dogma. Ending the presentation, he revealed that Dragon’s Dogma II is in active development. You can watch the video below:
“Sorry to have kept you waiting! Dragon’s Dogma 2 is currently in development,” Itsuno says. “Everyone in the development team is hard at work creating a game that we hope you will enjoy. Please look forward to it!” Currently, there is no details on when the title will release nor shared platforms aimed for the game when it is ready. Most exciting is the project is being developed using the RE Engine.
Previously, Itsuno shared the decision to release a new Devil May Cry game was given to him. When approached by Capcom, Itsuno was given the choice to continue Devil May Cry for its fifth entry or work on a sequel for Dragon’s Dogma.
