Earthbound, Earthbound Beginnings Added To Nintendo Switch Online Virtual Libraries

With the introduction of Nintendo Switch Online nearly a handful of years ago, Nintendo has went on to introduce some exciting additions to the respected virtual libraries ties to its online service. With Nintendo Entertainment System alongside Super Nintendo Entertainment System already included, the firm most recently featured the highly popular Nintendo 64 alongside the Sega Genesis last year.

Additionally, the lineup of additions for the service continues to bring players back especially with the lineup for the newest platforms introduced. In that, Nintendo promised Banjo-Kazooie will be added to the Nintendo 64 virtual library and carried out on its word. There was also a greater influx of Sega Genesis games including Thunder Force II and ToeJam & Earl.

During the Nintendo Direct that took place on Wednesday, Nintendo revealed the long-awaited addition for Earthbound is finally here. Even more is that Earthbound Beginnings will also be included as well to the service. You can watch the launch trailer in the video below:

“EarthBound / EarthBound Beginnings: Join Ness, Paula, Jeff and Poo in their quest to fulfill an age-old prophecy to stop the wicked Giygas (and maybe catch a Runaway Five concert along the way) in the fan-favorite Super NES classic EarthBound. In addition, travel back to 198X for EarthBound Beginnings, a localized version of the original Famicom Mother game,” the firm wrote for the description of the trailer.

On the matter of Earthbound and the greater Mother series, former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime made a gaf towards the idea of a localized version of Mother 3. He went on Twitter to nod at the reality of him “owning” a cartridge for the game that never came to the west. You can read the full report by heading here.
