While developer FromSoftware is very quiet on its development for Elden Ring, it’s evident that followers aren’t so quiet. Since the game’s announcement back in June 2019, little has yet to be expressed on the game’s status. Not even a release window to calm the storm that is the overly vocal following the project earned even without any gameplay presented.
In a report from Video Game Chronicles, it was indicated that the reasoning for little updates on Elden Ring is due to internal delays on the project. And as FromSoftware has yet to be transparent on the state of the title, claims went on to surface a potentially new trailer be revealed as per leaked footage. But, Microsoft that holds the marketing rights for the game denounced any plans to showcase the title in future showcases.
According to recent financial report submitted by FromSoftware parent company Kadokawa expresses a potential delay for the game. In one slide on Page 10 indicates that Elden Ring might not release by March 2022 at the earliest. In a later slide, the firm also elaborates on delays for “new work” due to the impact of COVID-19.

On Page 19, Kadokawa featured Elden Ring with some bullet points highlighting the background for the game. “Action RPG title, building on the success of the “DARK SOULS” series, which has sold more than 27 million copies to date worldwide,” one line reads. “Created in collaboration with fantasy author George R. R. Martin, who has written masterpieces such as “A Song of Ice and Fire,” on which “Game of Thrones” is based.
“With its dark fantasy setting, “ELDEN RING” -currently in development- is heralded as FromSoftware’s biggest title yet in terms of sheer volume.” The statement does happen to echo from the impression given by Phil Spencer previously. The Xbox head told to play a build of the game last year and elaborated it to be the “most ambitious” project yet from game director Hidetaka Miyazaki.
Additionally, it was announced that a minor stake of Kadokawa will be purchased by Sony. The firm shared the new proposition will open new avenues for more profitability including games, film, and books. You can read the full report by heading here.
