Nintendo, as far as many could guess, is underway to re-release a handful of Super Mario 3D projects for Nintendo Switch. It was reported previously that Nintendo in anticipation for the series’ 35th anniversary celebration would use its platform to properly announce that the most reputable entries would be returning to its current platform later on.
However, that announcement looked to be prolonged as Nintendo did not have the space to do so with E3 no occurring this past June. But presuming that the firm would still host its annual Nintendo Direct that month, we would surely see the reveal take place. But as the reportings cited ahead of June, the livestreamed presentation never arrived and left fans hanging for news on the reworkings.
But now according to a new finding on Twitter, Nintendo could possibly be finding the right moment to pop the cap off for the announcement. Users recently have discovered a new Twitter account going by the handle @supermario35th recently which brewed a new batch of speculation on the suspected announcement that was erected previously.
Although fans are unsure if it is definite to believe that the account is legitimate, there is more context to the finding. Video Game Chronicles shortly after the initial reporting have learned that the email for the account holds a close resemblance to other Nintendo-affiliated Twitter profiles. In particular, the Splatoon and Super Smash Bros. accounts.
In relevancy to the 35th anniversary for Super Mario, the titles that are suspected to be included spans back a few generations. That including Paper Mario 64 which was reported back in January following a resurfacing string of rumors and a more recent listing for Super Mario 3D World on Best Buy.
Previously, we have seen a similar set of events happen regarding Microsoft’s Fable and Perfect Dark properties. Users then uncovered two locked Twitter accounts suggesting an announcement is underway from the firm. It is suspected that Microsoft will make the announcement during next Thursday Xbox 20/20 showcase. You can read the original report by heading here.
What games do you hope to see come to fruition if the Twitter account happens to be legitimate?
